Welcome to the Wildwood School Family!
I would like to extend a warm welcome to a new school year. The staff and I are looking forward to working with you and your children this year. We will strive to continue to provide an exciting and rewarding educational program for each and every child at Wildwood Elementary School. With your help, we know we can achieve.
I’d like to take this opportunity to acquaint you with some routine schedules and procedures of Wildwood Elementary as well as policies adopted by the School Board.
The first day of school is Friday, August 7th. All students, grades 1-5, should report by 8:30 a.m.
On Thursday, August 6 from 2:30-3:30, you and your child are invited to stop by the school to meet your child's teacher. Please join us to "Meet Your Child's Teacher" before the first day of school. Pre-K teachers will not participate in this event due to a district meeting for Pre-K teachers.
The school hours are 8:30 a.m. – 3:25 p.m. Students are not to arrive on campus before 8:00 a.m. each morning. A parent or guardian must check students arriving after 8:35 a.m. in at the office. Early checkouts will not be allowed after 3:00 p.m. due to safety concerns.
All students will be required to wear complete uniforms daily. Uniform reminder:
- Navy blue bottoms (pants, shorts, skirts and jumpers, not less than 5” above the knee) NO jeans, cargo pants'or sweatpants.
- Burgundy shirts with a collar must be worn. (Turtlenecks are acceptable in winter). NO t-shirts. VISIBLE t-shirts worn under uniform shirts must be white.
- Closed-toed shoes only may be worn. (Sandals, Crocs and flip flops'are not allowed)
- Belts must be worn on bottoms with belt loops. Shirts must be tucked in. This will be strictly enforced.
Lunches this year are $2.00 per day. Breakfast will be served free of charge to each student wishing to eat. This is provided by “USDA Provision 2 Breakfast Grant.” Students eating breakfast must arrive no later than 8:15 each morning.
The supply fee for all students K-5 will be $5.00 for the year. Please make the necessary arrangements to have this fee paid by September 4, 2009. A supply list may be picked up in the office or on the first day of school. It is also available online at http://www.ebrschools.org.
If you have moved from Wildwood’s attendance area, you must register at the school in your attendance zone. We are required to drop students who do not live in our area from our rolls. If you have moved, please come by the school to pick up transfer papers before the first day of school.
The EBR Transportation Department will send bus cards home a week before classes begin. If you have not received your card by August 3, please call the Transportation Department at 226-3784.
We strive very hard to provide a safe learning environment where all children are afforded the opportunity for an excellent instructional setting. I ask you to encourage your children to do their best in academics and behavior. The students’ effort in both academics and behavior has a major effect on their achievement. With all of us working together, I am confident that our students will be successful.
